Methodology & Ethics
Our Methodological Approach
My Coaching Brain translates established research from positive psychology, behavioral science, neuroscience, and professional coaching into practical, non-clinical tools designed for professional contexts.
Our methodology is based on four principles:
- Evidence before elegance
Every tool is grounded in peer-reviewed research or well-established applied frameworks. - Translation, not invention
We do not create theories.
We responsibly adapt and reframe existing models for coaching, leadership, and self-regulation contexts. - Application over abstraction
Tools are designed for real situations: decisions, pressure, relationships, change, leadership.
Professional accountability
Language, framing, and use cases are aligned with professional coaching standards and organizational ethics.
Ethical Positioning & Boundaries
My Coaching Brain is not therapy and does not aim to diagnose, treat, or remediate mental health conditions.
Our tools:
- Support self-awareness, self-regulation, and intentional action
- Are designed for professional development, not clinical intervention
- Can be used in self-coaching or coaching engagements, within scope of practice
We explicitly distinguish:
- Coaching → capability, clarity, effectiveness
- Therapy → diagnosis, treatment, recovery
When appropriate, users are encouraged to refer clients to licensed mental health professionals.
Responsible Use of Psychological Models
Some tools are inspired by models originating in clinical psychology (e.g. CBT, ACT, DBT).
These are adapted strictly for non-clinical purposes, such as:
- decision-making
- emotional regulation
- values clarification
- behavioral experimentation
Clinical techniques are not reproduced.
Pathology-based language is intentionally avoided.
Transparency & Attribution
- Scientific origins are clearly stated
- Key references are cited
- Adaptations are explicitly named as such
My Coaching Brain values intellectual honesty and respect for original sources.
